Hi everyone,

I'm new to darktable and have used lightroom in the past. I'm looking to replace lightroom with darktable, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to import my photo files from SD to my computer drive. My photo files are organised in certain way: "D:\Photos\YYYY\MM\DD" going by the EXIF-data from the particular photo. For example, a picture I took today should be imported into the folder "D:\Photos\2022\08\23".

I have played around with the copy & import function a bit, but I cannot seem to make it work. As far as I know I need to specify the name format for sub folders. I have entered the following here: "$(EXIF_YEAR)\$(EXIF_MONTH)\$(EXIF_DAY)"

This creates a folder named "2022$(EXIF_MONTH)$(EXIF_DAY)" and no files are imported.

What did I do wrong?

I'm not at my pc right now but I think you need quotes after each of the exif and before the slashes. "

"$(EXIF_YEAR)"\"EXIF_MONTH)"\" ...... ETC

Thanks for your reply! It did not help me but I did figure out the solution!

For whatever reason typing "$(EXIF_YEAR)\$(EXIF_MONTH)\$(EXIF_DAY)" into the appropiate box did the trick for me! I wonder why you have to enter double backslashes since usually in Windows one backslash indicates the sub-folder.

I renamed the images like this
$(EXIF_YEAR)-$(EXIF_MONTH)-$(EXIF_DAY)-h$(EXIF_HOUR)m$(EXIF_MINUTE)s$(EXIF_SECOND).$(FILE_EXTENSION)

And placed them in folders like this
$(EXIF_YEAR)\$(EXIF_MONTH)\$(EXIF_DAY)

note the two \ \ loks like one \ when i publish the text
so you need two \ between year month and day
