Hi
it's my first post here, so hello to anyone and thank you very much to each contributor of dt.
I'm not an heavy user of dt, actually I take photos and I use dt to orgnanize them. Actually I've almost no time to study it and to use its full potential unfortunately ,
Anyway my question regards image informations.
Fujifilm cameras store which film simulation they used to render the jpeg into the RAF (&jpg also) file. For istance Velvia, Provia, Acros, etc.
This is stored among the Maker exif tags in the FilmMode tag.
Image information displayed in dt doesn't show film simulation (i.e. FilmMode tag content) neither allows it because the tag isn't among those provided to personalize dt itself.
With exiftool (not with exiv2 because this one refuses to write raf.xmp) I managed to write the FilmMode tag content of the RAF file to the Copyright tag content of the xmp sidecar file created by dt.
In this way I can see the FilmMode both in the Image information panel (in the copyright field) and overlayed on the image together with the usual exposure infos.
I'm testing with a little subset copy of my files if all goes well. It works actually.
I don't know how dt library db got updated but it did. By design library db shouldn't update itself unless you enable the option (this is what I've understood by the manual).
Library db also retained the infos even after I removed the images from the dt lighttable and deleted the xmp sidecars.
dt wrote the FilmMode (I think retained in library db) to the new xmp files created when I imported again the same images in dt.
This behaviour could be useful, but I wanted to test what would happen if I changed my mind and I wanted to revert the copyright field to his primary function.
I've cleared the Copyright field in xmp sidecar, and I've enabled in dt the core option to check new metadata in sidecars.
dt freezes after I choose to update the dt database.
I'm in windows 10 now, with the 3.0.2 64 release.
I'll test it on linux as soon as I can have back my pc (permanently kidnapped by my wife to teach her pupils...).
So what I'd like to ask for is if there is some conflict with exiftool (in fact dt uses exiv2) or a more elegant method to show the FilmMode tag into the Image Information.
Many thanks forn any help
