Thank you Mat, you are most kind. Yes, surprisingly Windows has started putting more user friendly options into the software and I too use the import from Windows.
I used to take lots of bird shots as well, I must get back into it again lol. The Tag option in Faststone is a simple on/off tag and for some bizarre reason is de-active by default but when you have activated the option, the slash key becomes the toggle, so as I zap through the images I can press the slash for each one I want to reject, Then one of the view options it to view tagged images only, so I view all the tagged (rejects) and delete in one go.
I assume you have used the "P" option as well in Faststone to compare up to 4 images. I use this a lot after the first cull to view similar images so I can pick the keeper and cull the rest. If you haven't use it, give it a try , for similar bird pics its a must lol. You can view 2/3 or 4 images simultaneously and move them in unison to examine parts of the image. If you hold down the Alt key when clicking the mouse on one image you can move that one on its own, so effectively you can line up each image first so that they are similarly displayed then move them collectively to examine parts of the image helping you to pick the best shot.
If you haven't used it, give it a try. Once you have, you will use it extensively, its brilliant for picking the best out of several similar shots
